Paul Stewart believes Jadon Sancho could replace standout Liverpool star

Former Liverpool utility player Paul Stewart has suggested that Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho would be a worthwhile replacement were Mohamed Salah to leave Anfield.

This comes as Salah has been continuously linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, whilst the Egyptian’s contract situation also remains unresolved.

Meanwhile, Sancho has seen his asking price slashed by the Bundesliga club and the Reds have reportedly held a long-standing interest in the talented 21-year-old.

With all of that in mind, Stewart, an ex-Liverpool man of 42 outings, has told This Is Futbol that Sancho would make for an adequate alternative were Salah to move on.

It’s going to be hard to replace Salah and there’s something that just makes me think he’s going to leave, and I know there are a lot of people talking about Real Madrid or Barcelona being two of the clubs he could go to. I think Sancho would be somebody that could come in and do a good job for Liverpool and I think he would be a good signing.

This season the Dortmund winger, who was hailed as the ‘perfect footballer’ by German legend Lothar Matthaus, has scored 14 times and registered 18 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Salah has continued in a similar vein towards a struggling Jurgen Klopp side – scoring 29 and assisting five goals.

Signing Sancho, who is valued at £90million, or anyone for that matter, at the expense of Salah is a non-starter at this present time for Liverpool.

Whilst in terms of finances, age and perhaps potential it would seem a no-brainer – the £99million valued 28-year-old influence remains has remained as important as ever.

If possible Michael Edwards should certainly be looking to fund a move for Sancho, however, without selling any of the front three.
