Premier League won’t move Liverpool fixtures to fit in Carabao Cup clash

The Premier League is “unlikely” to allow Liverpool to move their fixtures around, in order to fit in their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Aston Villa, according to BBC Sport.

The Reds booked their place in the last-eight after beating Arsenal on penalties in midweek, but it has only added to their winter congestion.

The quarter-final ties are due to take place in the week starting December 16th, at which point Liverpool will be on Club World Cup duties in Qatar.

The league clash with West Ham has been shifted to accommodate the competition, but Liverpool won’t be allowed to move more games with regards to the trip to Villa Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are already playing eight times in December, with no logical slots for the Villa match to take place.

The most likely scenario is that the game is played in January, prior to the semi-finals taking place later that month.

Klopp has threatened to boycott the competition if the tie is played too close to another fixture, as the situation remains complicated.
