Pundit gives his verdict on Brewster leading the line for Leeds next season

Rhian Brewster has great talent, but there is no guarantee that he would thrive at Leeds United in the Premier League.

That’s according to former Leeds star Danny Mills, who fold Football Insider that Patrick Bamford could represent an equally strong solution, should Leeds eventually be promoted from the Championship this season:

I would only see him as a squad player. He is not ready to lead the line, that is for sure. You would need somebody with out-and-out experience of the Premier League.

You might as well stick with Bamford if you are going to go with Rhian Brewster. Undoubtedly he has got talent but he is unproven.

If you are going to replace somebody you have to have the guarantee that they are better than what you have got.

Brewster is currently on loan at Swansea City from Liverpool, but has been linked with a temporary switch to Elland Road, too.

I think it is looking increasingly sensible for Brewster to be loaned out again in 2020/21, in order to continue his progress.

Earning regular playing time for Liverpool is going to be extremely difficult, especially if Timo Werner also joins the Reds, as continues to be reported.

I believe Brewster needs to feature in a starting lineup week in, week out if he is to find top gear after serious injury problems.

From a Liverpool perspective, I think it would be a great to see him trying his luck in the Premier League with Leeds, coming up against top-level defenders – a challenge he is yet to consistently face.

Whether or not Marcelo Bielsa is willing to trust a 20-year-old to lead the line in the top flight is up for debate, though.
