‘Quite a lot’ – Andoni Iraola says Liverpool player is ‘still not at his best’

Liverpool played out a 0-0 draw against Fulham at Anfield as they dropped points in the Premier League for the third time in four games.

The Reds produced arguably their worst performance under Andoni Iraola as Alvaro Arbeloa’s side went away with a well-deserved point.

After the game, Iraola admitted his squad still isn’t ready to play thrice in ten days as they now look ahead to their game against Tottenham.

And the Spaniard also claimed Wataru Endo is still far from his best as he continues to recover from an injury he sustained just before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Andoni Iraola on Wataru Endo’s Liverpool struggles

“I think Wata lost quite a lot of the pre-season,” said Iraola in his pre-match press conference.

“I think he’s still not at his best, but he’s training very well. The problem is, in front of him in his position, I have a lot of players.

“He’s competing against a lot of players because we are also giving minutes to try Ryan [Gravenberch], Alexis [Mac Allister], Dom [Szoboszlai], players that I am selecting right now.

“But Wata is definitely a player that I like and for sure he will have his moments.”

Liverpool don’t have a big enough squad, so they could rest a lot of players for their upcoming Carabao Cup clash vs Tottenham Hotspur.

And Endo could well make his first appearance of the season vs the Lilywhites in midweek and will look to make it count.
