Liverpool’s seemingly never-ending pursuit of Christian Benteke finally looks to be reaching its climax.
According to TalkSport, Liverpool have finally got their man. Benteke has been Liverpool’s number one striker target all summer and according to the radio station, the two clubs have reached a deal.
Liverpool were reluctant to meet Villa’s £32m valuation of their star player and it seems as if the two parties have reached a compromise.
The powerful Belgian forward has also apparently attracted Tottenham to try and get him – however, it is reported that Benteke has his heart set on a switch to Anfield.
Graham Beecroft, who is TalkSport’s Merseyside correspondent says: “My understanding is that Christian Benteke, who has been on their (Liverpool’s) radar for some time, is very close indeed to signing for Liverpool.”
Liverpool have already made five summer signings and the Nathaniel Clyne deal expected to be announced in the coming days. The Christian Benteke deal could bring the tally up to seven, with the transfer window just opening, that is impressive from Liverpool.
