Raheem Sterling wants to leave Liverpool as he does not want to play for Brendan Rodgers, according to Sky Sports, but the club have denied this claim.
It is understood that the manager and Sterling had a meeting at training on Tuesday, where Rodgers reiterated his desire for the 20-year-old to stay, saying that if he wanted more money then he was confident that an agreement could be reached over the player’s contract with the club.
In response to this however, it is thought that Sterling said his issues were not over the club or money, but instead how he did not want to play for the manager again.
Liverpool are set to fly out to Australia and the Far East on Sunday for their pre-season tour, but Sterling has requested not to go with the squad, claiming it will be in everybody’s best interests that he stays at home.
Manchester City have already had two bids rejected for Sterling, but a third offer is expected to come this week which will match Liverpool’s £50m asking price.
