Liverpool are set to bid in the region of £12 million for Manchester City forward, Stevan Jovetic. The Montenegro international has struggled since arriving at The Etihad a couple of years ago. Injuries haven’t helped his attempt to force his way into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.
It’s no secret that Liverpool’s weakness this season has been their inability to put the ball in the net, and with Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini all linked with moves away from Anfield, Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen this position for next season.
Divock Origi will be arriving on Merseyside this summer and Danny Ings is rumoured to join the Belgian; and Rodgers wants Jovetic as his other option to increase Liverpool’s firepower – which has undoubtedly been missed in this rather disappointing campaign.
The Mirror state that Jovetic is the man Rodgers wants, but with his injury problems in the past, would it be too much of a risk to recruit him as a partner, or cover, to someone who has his own injury concerns in Daniel Sturridge? Jovetic, without doubt, has the talent and potential to succeed at Anfield, though.
