Reds set to pocket windfall

Liverpool will collect £560,000 after Blackpool agreed a fee of £1.6m with Hull City for Tom Ince’s move to the Tigers.

Ince joined Hull in the summer after his contract expired at Bloomfield Road, but because he is under the age of 23, the Seasiders were due compensation.

Liverpool negotiated a sell-on clause when the winger left Merseyside in 2011, enabling them to pick up 35% of his next transfer sum.

Hull and Blackpool struck a deal on Wednesday night, with the £1.6m figure potentially rising to £2.3m based on appearances and the Tigers remaining in the Premier League.

Ince, son of ex-Liverpool skipper Paul, made just one appearance for the Reds – in their League Cup penalty shootout loss against Northampton Town in September 2010.

In his first season at Blackpool, Ince made 41 appearances, scoring eight goals.

He further improved during 2012-13 – scoring 18 league goals before going to the UEFA Under-21 European Championship with England.

Despite being linked with a return to Anfield on several occasions, Ince remained with Blackpool until January 2014 when he moved on loan to Crystal Palace.

He rarely figured for Hull early this season, so Ince moved to Nottingham Forest on loan before being recalled to the KC Stadium in December.
