Liverpool have made Eduardo Salvio their latest summer target, according to O Jogo and A Bola.
Salvio is an Argentine winger who is currently playing his football for Portuguese giants, Benfica. With the Raheem Sterling departure rumours ever growing; Silvio is reportedly the man Rodgers wants to fill the youngster’s boots.
Born and raised in Argentina, Salvio signed for Atletico Madrid as a 20 year-old. Diego Simeone, a fellow Argentine, was Salvio’s boss.
After failing to impress in his first season with Madrid, Benfica came calling and took the winger on a season long loan deal. After a good season with the Portuguese side, Madrid took him back. He did well the next season, too, but ultimately that wasn’t enough to keep him at an ever-progressing Atletico side.
Benfica signed him on a permanent deal and more recently, he has ten goals in all competitions to his name, this season.
Ten goals suggests that he certainly has an eye for scoring; something Liverpool have been searching for. They have been linked with goal-scoring wingers to improve their disappointing goal tally this term. Memphis Depay was a big miss, after he chose Manchester United; but it looks like Salvio is the new man on Brendan Rodgers’ list.
