Liverpool target and Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski is reportedly angling to lower the release clause in his new contract at the club.
According to Radio Marte, as cited on Calciomercato, Zielinski’s representatives want to set the release clause at €80 million, whereas Napoli would prefer to see it set at €120 million.
The two parties remain in discussions over a new deal at the club and the release clause is likely to play a key role in negotiations.
Zielinski has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli and the Serie A side are keen to ward off any interest from potential suitors.

The Polish midfield maestro has been a long-term target for Liverpool, with the club’s interest dating back to before he joined Napoli.
Chelsea were also interested in signing the player over the summer, with Maurizio Sarri keen for Zielinski to follow him to Stamford Bridge.
