‘Right price’ – David Ornstein confirms Liverpool could revisit £70m deal

‘Right price’ – David Ornstein confirms Liverpool could revisit £70m deal

Liverpool lost Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window as they scrambled to replace him.

Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz arrived at Anfield, but the Reds also made moves for a handful of other attackers.

Bids were rejected for Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh, with Brighton, in particular, standing firm on their £70m valuation of the Gambian.

And now, David Ornstein confirms Liverpool could go back in for Minteh in January, provided the price is right.

Liverpool could go back in for Yankuba Minteh

On The Athletic‘s QnA session, Ornstein feels the 22-year-old could become a topic of discussion for Liverpool if the Seagulls reduce their valuation.

“Yankuba Minteh from Brighton,” said Ornstein when asked if the Reds could revisit any deals in 2027.

“He’s not back fit until sort of October, November time, but clearly Liverpool pushed for him.

“And it seems that Brighton might have been open, as they often are, at the right price.”

Minteh is currently injured and is pencilled in for a return in a month or two. If he returns to his best, Liverpool could well make a move for him in January.

A lot could also depend on the futures of Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Lewis Koumas as they continue to be linked with departures.
