Liverpool have been handed a huge boost for their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich tonight with the news that Roberto Firmino has been iven the green light to feature, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Liverpool forward has joined up with the rest of the squad ahead of tonight’s last 16 tie against the German champions.
Firmino had been a doubt after being sidelined by a virus during Monday’s training session.
However, the Brazilian has recovered in time to face Niko Kovac’s side with a place in the quarterfinals up for grabs.
This has come as a huge boost for manager Jurgen Klopp with the alternative striking options, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi, lacking any sort of form.
Liverpool are therefore expected to name the usual lethal threesome of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Firmino in attack as they hope to do damage in the first leg.
Although the Champions League is still a firm priority for the Reds, it seemingly has taken less significance this season with Liverpool in a titanic battle for their first ever Premier League title.
It could, therefore, be argued that this weekend’s trip to Manchester United in the league is far more important as it is their game in hand over Manchester City, but that won’t mean a thing come kick-off time this evening.
