Andrew Robertson is desperate to feature in Scotland’s EURO 2020 Qualifying opener against Kazakhstan on Thursday after undergoing dental surgery.
The Liverpool left-back suffered an abscess in his mouth over the weekend and has undergone an emergency operation today.
He hasn’t yet met up with his Scotland team-mates after the issue worsened during Sunday’s 2-1 win at Fulham, but is refusing to withdraw from the squad and insisted on flying up to Glasgow from London.
After having surgery in the Scottish capital, he’ll be assessed ahead of flying to Kazakhstan as the nation kick off their qualifying campaign.
It does, however, seem more likely that he’ll return in Scotland’s second match against San Marino next week if he refuses to be left out altogether.
Liverpool fans shouldn’t be worried as he’ll be ready to go at club level when Tottenham Hotspur visit Anfield at the end of the month to start what promises to be a tense Premier League run-in.
