Rodgers hopes Leicester will play a part in title race

Brendan Rodgers has revealed he hopes Leicester City can have a say in the Premier League title race when they visit Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Leicester go to City on Monday night knowing, depending on Liverpool’s result at Newcastle United tonight, that getting a result would mean Rodgers’ old team sitting at the top of the table going into the final day of the season.

Rodgers is looking for his side to play a part in an ‘exciting’ occasion and has told Sky Sports that Liverpool fans will view the match as a ‘possibility’, just as much as Leicester fans.

Naturally the Liverpool supporters will look at it as maybe an opportunity. With our current form and how we’ve worked, they’ll see it as a possibility and, with the players we have, we can see it as a possibility. For us, we need to be involved and play our part in it. They’re exciting games to be involved in. It’s one where you have to look after our own house, make sure that’s in order and see what happens after that if the football gods shine on you.

The Foxes have won five of their eight Premier League matches under Brendan Rodgers, turning their season around and bidding a strong challenge for European qualification.

Liverpool supporters understandably won’t care about how Monday’s result will benefit Leicester though, with a lead in the title race going to Anfield on the final day likely to prove crucial.
