Brendan Rodgers has rejected claims that Liverpool have made a bid for Adam Lallana.
The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, following six years in a Reds shirt.
Leicester were claimed to have jumped to the front of the queue to sign Lallana earlier this week, with Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham also linked with a move for him.
Speaking to reporters, however, and with quotes provided by the Liverpool Echo, Rodgers has played down the rumour.
I’ve seen a lot of stuff around Adam and that we’ve approached Liverpool, which isn’t the case.
He went on to praise his former player.
He has done brilliantly [at Liverpool] and I’m sure he will be weighing up his options.
But I don’t need to speak about that now. We’ve spoken about that all through January. I don’t need to speak about the summer transfer window.
I would only add he is a top-class player.

Although Rodgers suggests otherwise, I would be surprised if Leicester weren’t monitoring Lallana’s situation closely.
He played under the Ulsterman during their time together at Liverpool, and his style of play suits the Foxes’.
Good on the ball, enjoying an 83.4 per cent pass completion rate in the Premier League this season, he would be a good squad player, potentially pushing the likes of Youri Tielemans and James Maddison for regular playing time.
