Sadio Mane voted as the Champions League’s Player of Week

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been voted as the Champions League Player of the Week.

The Senegal international netted a hat-trick as Liverpool eased to a 5-0 victory in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Porto in Portugal on Wednesday evening.

Mane was brilliant throughout the game and looked back to his best.

Mane won the vote with ease, earning 57% of the award, beating Real Madrid’s Marcelo, Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan.

Mane’s form has been up and down in recent weeks and despite popping up with the odd goal, he’s not looked at his best.

However, Liverpool will be hoping his hat-trick, followed by winning this award, will give him a lift and hopefully result in some improved performances in the near future, starting with the home game against West Ham on February 24th.
