Salah tests positive for virus again and will miss Leicester game

Mohamed Salah has again tested positive for the virus affecting the world, ruling him out of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Leicester City.

Liverpool host the current league leaders on Sunday night, looking for a return to winning ways in the competition, following their 1-1 draw away to Manchester City.

Salah has been a doubt after testing positive earlier in the international break and the Egyptian FA confirmed that was still the case on Wednesday.

It means the 28-year-old will continue to self-isolate, hopefully watching his teammates beat Leicester without him.

It is impossible to play down the vast influence Salah has on this Liverpool team, considering his incredible goalscoring record.

The Reds’ No.11 has scored 104 goals in just 165 appearances, also registering 39 assists at the same time.

It means Liverpool could potentially revert to Jurgen Klopp’s preferred 4-3-3 formation in Salah’s absence, as a confident Leicester team head to Anfield.

Diogo Jota could play on the right-hand side in place of his colleague, with Sadio Mane on the left and out-of-form Roberto Firmino leading the line.

There is the option of sticking with a 4-2-3-1 system, with the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Curtis Jones and Naby Keita options to come in and play a No.10 role.
