Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has played down rumours of a move for Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, by stating that he wants “more”.
The Serie A side have been linked with the Italy international, but the president is seemingly aiming higher than the Reds forward.
“Balotelli? Meh… who knows”, he told Radio 24.
“I want more.
“I want to surprise you.”
Sampdoria want to bolster their squad as they look to build on their seventh-place finish this season, but Balotelli supposedly doesn’t fit the bill.
The 24-year-old arrived at Anfield last August from AC Milan, but he has failed to find form since his return to the Premier League.
In his first campaign under Brendan Rodgers, he registered four goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
Balotelli’s Liverpool contract runs until 2018, but Brendan Rodgers and the transfer committee are thought to be contemplating selling him.
