According to The Mirror, Raheem Sterling’s contract negotiations with Liverpool have stalled. The 20 year-old is said to have rejected a second contract offer and demands more than £100,000 a week.
The English youngster has been integral to Liverpool’s side this season and the amount of minutes he has to his name backs that up. Sterling has got serious talent and no doubt many admirers. With Real Madrid reportedly interested in the Liverpool starlet, Liverpool want to get a new contract extension tied down.
The new contract would no doubt feature a massive release clause, so if Madrid or any other clubs were looking to buy him, it would be good for Liverpool’s financial situation. Rodgers said in his press conference on Thursday that a new deal was “imminent”, but the Mirror say otherwise.
Liverpool need to get this done as soon as possible. Rodgers won’t want one of his star players to be focusing on anything else but his football. However, both camps aren’t in agreement just yet, apparently.
