Sterling move to City looking likely

The Raheem Sterling saga could be over in the foreseeable future, with his move to Manchester City looking increasingly likely after the latest developments. John Cross from The Mirror believes that The Blues want to tie up the deal as quickly as possible having made another bid of £45 million rising to £50 million for the young Englishman.

This news has come amid new reports that the 20-year-old won’t travel with the Liverpool squad on their pre-season tour, despite being named in the squad to go on the plane. This could indicate a deal is close to completion, and if a deal does go through then Sterling would likely meet up with Manchester City on their tour of Australia.

Sterling returned to training at Melwood after two days out through illness during his first week back, and following that looked set to fly with The Reds ahead of their tour of the Far East. A move to City had started to look somewhat less likely, with the new bid coming some time after the previous bid of £35 million was rejected by Liverpool. This meant he was set to fly with his club for pre-season, but with City yet to complete a major signing they’ve come back in for the attacker.

City will be hopeful that this bid will be enough to bring in one of their key targets for the summer, but if Liverpool hold firm then it’s not difficult to see The Blues stumping up enough money to meet The Reds’ demands. Sterling would likely be a key cog for City this season, and they can’t afford to let him go for the sake of a few million.
