Liverpool and Manchester City are yet to find the breakthrough at Anfield as a competitive first half ended all square.
The Reds raced off the blocks and showed a lot of energy in the opening exchanges as they got the home crowd going.
In attack, Andoni Iraola fielded a much-changed front three as the likes of Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak missed out through injury.
Lewis Koumas got his first Premier League start for the club as a striker, while Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola joined him in attack.
And Stephen Warnock feels the Spanish international was one of the Reds’ best performers in the first half.
Stephen Warnock lauds Liverpool attacker Victor Munoz
Munoz started on the right flank and was a constant thorn in the flesh of the Manchester City defenders, particularly Nico O’Reilly and Marc Guehi.
He didn’t get a goal or an assist, but his industrious display was one of the positives for the Reds in the first half.
“The best stuff from Liverpool has come from Victor Munoz,” said Warnock via the BBC.
“The attackers were coming across the front of the goal and if that ball got to them it would’ve certainly been a goal.”
Munoz was surely Liverpool’s best player in the first half and will look to make it count after the interval with a decisive contribution.
