Silva’s return acts as a potentially huge boost for Thomas Tuchel, given the centre-back’s experience and quality. He has won 89 caps for Brazil, outlining his pedigree.
Should the Brazilian be deemed fit enough to start, he could come straight back into the side, looking to deal with a Liverpool attack that looked improved in Sunday’s 2-0 win away to Sheffield United.
On the flip side, however, the back-three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger were all solid in the 0-0 draw with Manchester United, so Tuchel may feel no changes are necessary.
