Three Liverpool players ruled out of international duty

Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne has been ruled out of England’s up-coming World Cup Qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia after suffering a knee injury in the weekend’s match against Swansea.

Clyne joins Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren in sitting out the next round of World Cup 2018 qualifying.

Clyne has been struggling with a knee problem over the last few weeks, but had been playing through it as it was not considered serious enough to prevent him from performing.

Clyne’s fellow Liverpool team-mate Adam Lallana will also sit out England’s next two games after he was substituted early on in Liverpool’s game against Swansea City at the weekend with a groin injury.

Dejan Lovren was another casualty from Saturday’s 2-1 win and will play no part in Croatia’s games against Kosovo and Finland as he also suffered a groin injury towards the end of the Swansea game.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be hopeful that these three key players will have enough time to recover from their various injuries in time for their next Premier League game against old rivals, Manchester United on Monday, October 17th.

The Reds are currently enjoying a great run of form in the league, winning the past four games and scoring 13 goals in the process. Jurgen Klopp’s men sit in fourth place going into the mouthwatering clash with United in a fortnight’s time.
