Tottenham are in talks to sign soon-to-be free agent defender Thomas Meunier, according to an exclusive report from Tom Banks of The Express.
The 28-year-old was recently linked with a move to Liverpool, but it appears that the team who the Reds beat in the 2019 Champions League final are keen to sign him.
The Belgian has already spoken to Spurs’ boss Jose Mourinho, according to the Express, as he is keen to bring in a new right-back and given the financial worries brought on by the global health crisis, getting Meunier from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer could be a smart bit of business.

When the original links to Meunier emerged, we thought it would be a good idea for Liverpool to take the Belgian on a free transfer as he could provide great cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, it seems, understandably, that the player is looking to move somewhere to be a first-choice player, which is why a move to Spurs would make sense for him if they can offer him the salary he is requesting.
The Reds are in a funny position of having such a strong first-team that it might be difficult for them to sign quality backups as any incoming players will know that game time could be limited.
However, it would be wise, in what is likely to be a condensed 2020/21 season, for Liverpool to have a different right-back option than Alexander-Arnold in order to give the England star a rest.
Neco Williams seems to have made the backup spot to Alexander-Arnold his own, but it remains to be seen if he keeps that role going into the new campaign.
