Trialist Isaac Christie-Davies to play for U23s v Man United

Liverpool are set to give Chelsea youngster Isaac Christie-Davies another chance to impress on his trial when Liverpool U23s face Manchester United on Friday night.

The 20-year-old is set to be released from the London club in the summer and is currently on trial with the Reds to try and prove his worth.

Christie-Davies played for the young Reds in Monday night’s 4-0 loss to Leicester City and is set to be given another chance under the Anfield lights on Friday.

Neil Critchley, the Liverpool U23s boss spoke to The Liverpool Echo about the youngster.

Isaac has been notified by Chelsea that his contract won’t be renewed so we are taking the opportunity to have a look at him. He was in for a few days of training before the Leicester game but it would be unfair to judge him off the back of that game because of how young we were as a side. I thought he showed more of what he’s about in the second-half. If you have been at Chelsea for so many years, you’ve clearly got ability. We saw some of that in the second-half and I think we’ll see more of it on Friday night. It’s open-ended how long he’s here. We don’t have another game after Friday for 10 days so we’ll review it then.

Liverpool have shown a willngness to take young players on free transfers from other top six clubs, Kevin Stewart and Dominic Solanke are just two examples and Christie-Davies could be the next player to join the Reds from a rival.
