Liverpool are set to beat rivals Manchester United in the race for Arturo Vidal’s signature, according to The Express.
The highly-rated midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester for a while now, but with Steven Gerrard leaving to America – Liverpool have big shoes to fill, and they believe Vidal’s their man.
Juventus, Vidal’s current club, are reportedly expecting nothing short of £25m for the 27-year-old. Italian press have stated that Juve expect Vidal to leave and have already began their search for a replacement.
Despite Juventus wanting around £25m; The Express claim the Reds have made a £14m offer. His valuation may have lowered in some people’s minds, with his rather frequent knee injuries.
Manager, Brendan Rodgers and departing captain, Steven Gerrard, have already underlined the importance of adding “proven talent” to the squad.
The current squad are all very young and signing someone of Vidal’s quality and experience at the highest level, would be a major acquisition and statement to other clubs.
