Liverpool are reportedly ‘leading the race’ to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The Reds have been extensively linked with the 25-year-old previously and could now land their man as soon as January.
Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are all believed to be keen on the talented Switzerland international but the Anfield club looks to be in prime position.
That’s according to a report from Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter.

The report claims the 40-cap star could cost as little as £6.8million in the January transfer window.
So far this season the defensive-minded midfielder – described as ‘incredible’ by Marco Rose – has scored twice and provided one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £24.3million and out of contract at the end of the season (Transfermarkt), landing Zakaria for the mooted fee would be a bargain.
Jurgen Klopp opted not to replace Gini Wijnaldum in the summer and has been hampered by injuries almost ever since.
Possessing impressive passing and dribbling attributes, Zakaria has the wherewithal to operate as a central defender, defensive midfielder and more advanced midfield option.
At the suggested asking price Liverpool should be filling the void left by Wijnaldum and signing the Swiss star as soon as the window opens.
