Virals: Liverpool named among clubs interested in Benjamin Sesko

Liverpool have been named among the clubs interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko.

The Reds face strong competition from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City in the race for the talented 18-year-old.

Following an Austrian Bundesliga debut last season, Sesko has taken over the role of leading the line this term in the absence of new Leicester City star Patson Daka.

According to a report from Spanish newspaper AS, as cited by Blancos Central on Twitter, Liverpool are battling to sign the teenage sensation.

The report suggests that any of the clubs could move in either January or next summer for the three-times capped Slovenia forward.

Sesko spent a hugely successful 2020/21 campaign on loan at FC Liefering, netting 21 goals and adding seven assists in just 29 2.Liga outings.

So far this season, Sesko has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 12 appearances across all competitions.

Signed by Salzburg amidst competition from Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, Sesko has already been billed as the ‘Slovenian Erling Haaland’

Also linked with a move for attacking partner Karim Adeyemi, Liverpool could be about to continue their rich history of signing the best talent from the Austrian league leaders.

Albeit predominantly a central striker, Sesko has also operated on both wings – versatility that would further endear Jurgen Klopp to the youngster.

Valued at £7.2million and under contract until 2026 (Transfermarkt), prizing the towering frontman away at a bargain fee could prove a difficult task.
