Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott has posted a seemingly positive recovery update on social media.

Only three weeks ago the 18-year-old underwent surgery on an ankle injury sustained against Leeds United at Elland Road.

No timescale was placed on the teenager’s return to action but it was anticipated Elliott would make a comeback in the new year.

On Tuesday (October 5), the talented England youth international posted on Instagram, as cited by The Anfield Talk on Twitter, to show supporters the next step in a long road to recovery.

In response to the optimistic post, injury specialists InjuryMechanisms played down the progress and suggested it was ‘way too early’ to be discussing return date.

Prior to the sickening blow, Elliott had started three Premier League matches and earned a 6.83 average Sofascore rating

Albeit perhaps too early to be thinking of seeing the attacking midfielder back in action, this is a huge step in the right direction.

Seemingly laid up only a matter of days ago, seeing Elliott back even at a low intensity of work is a positive sign.

In the starlet’s absence Liverpool have remained unbeaten but undoubtedly miss his early-season energy.

Hopefully, Elliott can enjoy a swift and successful rehabilitation to allow him to pick up where he left off
