Virals: Raheem Sterling reportedly ‘prefers’ return to Liverpool

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling reportedly ‘prefers’ the option of a return to Liverpool as opposed to a move elsewhere.

The Reds have been tentatively linked with a move to bring the 26-year-old back to Anfield previously and could’ve been handed a boost.

Sterling left Merseyside under a cloud in 2015 for £49million (BBC) and has since become a star for both club and country.

Now having fallen out of favour in Manchester, Sterling is believed to hold preference over a return to Liverpool according to Spanish outlet El Nacional, as cited by Liverpool FC News on Twitter.

The report claims that despite interest from Barcelona, the 72-cap ace ‘would like to return’ to Liverpool to work under Jurgen Klopp.

Since moving to City, Sterling has lifted the Premier League on three occasions as well as directly contributing to 205 goals in 307 appearances.

This season the pacey English winger has scored twice and provided two assists in 15 outings across all competitions.

Given the rather acrimonious departure, it would take a gutsy man to sanction this move from either party.

Despite being a player that would enhance the options available to Klopp, particularly due to the added attacking versatility, this is a move that remains highly unlikely.

Valued at £81million and under contract at the Ethihad until 2023 (Transfermarkt), it would take a mega offer for City to sell a top player to one of their biggest title rivals.
