Virgil van Dijk responds directly when asked about Manchester City’s guilty verdict

It was a tough night for Liverpool and Virgil van Dijk as they fell to a 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at Anfield.

Second-half goals from Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki sealed the deal for Enzo Maresca’s side as the Reds crumbled after going down to ten men.

Over the past week or so, the verdict against Manchester City has emerged as the talk of the town after they were found guilty on 114 grounds.

And now, after the game, Van Dijk was asked directly about the charges, to which he delivered a straightforward response.

Virgil Van Dijk remains coy on Manchester City charges

“The only thing I can say, because it’s ongoing, is that I have really enjoyed the rivalry,” said the Liverpool skipper via the BBC.

“But that is on the pitch; what has happened off the pitch is a totally different story. Because it’s still ongoing, it’s not a good idea for me to comment on this.

“When it’s properly settled, I will definitely share my comments on it, but for now let’s wait and see.”

To be honest, a lot is happening behind the scenes and it wouldn’t make sense to comment on such things at the moment.

The governing bodies need to come to a decision as quickly as possible, as the magnitude of their alleged offenses is unlike anything the Premier League has ever seen.
