Former Premier League midfielder Yaya Toure has insisted that Liverpool were ‘lucky’ to beat West Ham.
The Reds overcame their visitors 1-0 thanks to a first-half Sadio Mane strike, but Jurgen Klopp’s side were made to work hard for all three points.
That victory kept up the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table as both sides prepare to go head to head in the run in once again.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, former City star Toure suggested that Klopp’s men were fortunate to pick up the all-important win.
Liverpool are doing very, very well. I saw the game against West Ham, they have been lucky in certain times. But they are impressive. A good, good team. I think Man City need to win all their games, if possible, because I don’t see Liverpool dropping points, if I am honest. Chelsea are really far. But Liverpool are a big threat, for me.
Albeit the case that David Moyes’ side did squander chances, the match statisitcs still weigh heavily in favour of Klopp’s men.
Plus, had Mohamed Salah scored in the opening minutes when through on goal, the game would’ve taken on a whole new complexion.

Speaking of luck, how was that handball against Everton…
In truth, even the best sides need an element of fortune somewhere along the way and the Reds were perhaps grateful to be facing a wasteful West Ham at Anfield.
All things told we are in for an exciting title race and Klopp can be optimistic about his chances of glory.
Liverpool can now turn their attention to their UEFA Champions League second leg clash with Inter Milan, for which Thiago, Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip could all return to the squad.
