Liverpool could soon enter into a €60m battle with a potential summer signing, as the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United also circle for a brand-new star.
Arne Slot’s Reds have already been busy in the transfer department, as we head into what will surely be another bumper summer window in the riches of the Premier League.
Indeed, Jeremy Janquet has put pen to paper on a £60m move, himself, from Rennes, although the young defender is now expected to undergo surgery on a dislocated shoulder, before leaving France behind for Merseyside.
He should be fit in time to link up with Slot’s camp in pre-season, as Janquet prepares to try and break into the Reds’ first team, to star alongside the likes of defensive veteran Virgil Van Dijk.
This is very much a purchase that has the future firmly in mind, as Liverpool is now linked with another promising defensive acquisition, ahead of the impending window reopening.
Liverpool’s ongoing hunt for new defenders
It’s no great secret at Anfield that Liverpool is priortising defensive reinforcements, as various settled first-teamers might well be on the move this summer.
Samson Baidoo is reportedly another centre-back name on their agenda, as Ibrahima Konate is yet to seal an extended deal for the Reds, while left-back targets are also surely at the forefront of their mind, with Andy Robertson expected to exit in the off-season.
As per Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are keen admirers of Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, having sent scouts to watch the two-time Germany international in the flesh against SC Freiburg.
There doesn’t appear to be a rush to tie up a deal for the 22-year-old, however, with Liverpool alleged to be very trusting of Milos Kerkez as their starter on the left channel.
Still, with the €60m defender noted as being able to leave in the summer, amid interest in his services stretching out to Real Madrid, Barcelona, and even Liverpool’s arch rivals Manchester United, a move might well suddenly whir into motion in the coming months.
Brown has enjoyed a top-drawer season with Albert Riera’s side – who is of course a former Liverpool player – with that connection perhaps enough to smooth out a deal, down the line.
Further, while Liverpool are noted as being firm believers of Kerkez in that left-back spot, losing Robertson could mean they have to splash the cash to pick up another option here.
Head-to-head stats of Kerkez + Brown (25/26):
| Metric (just league games) | Kerkez (25/26) | Brown (25/26) |

After all, Brown’s standout Bundesliga numbers, when positioned side-by-side with the Hungarian’s in the Premier League this season, show off a talent more than ready for the bright lights of Anfield.
It is set to be another enthralling window to be involved with from a Liverpool point of view, with the Reds no doubt set to be linked with a litany of other sublime individuals, before any moves can even be made.
