We’ve asked members of the Read Liverpool writing staff to make their votes for Liverpool’s Monthly awards for October, the first of which is for Goal of the Month.
Liverpool scored ten goals in October; two against Swansea, West Brom and Tottenham and four against Crystal Palace.
I, along with Adrian, Dan, David and Sam have chosen which of these eight goals was the best.
Here are our picks:
Adrian – Sadio Mane v West Brom
From the dummy by Philippe Coutinho to the lifted cross by Roberto Firmino to the cool finish by Manè. It was just a brilliant team goal and it was against a Tony Pulis team too!
Dan – Roberto Firmino v Crystal Palace
The assist from Jordan Henderson was sublime and the finish from Firmino was delicate yet ruthless. And best of all, the shirt off celebration occurred before the ball had even crossed the goal line.
David – Roberto Firmino v Crystal Palace
No screamers, as it were, from the Reds this month, but Firmino’s dinked finish following Henderson’s incisive pass was my personal favourite. He took it with the skill and composure of one of the world’s top strikers.
Sam – Roberto Firmino v Crystal Palace
Superb vision and execution from Jordan Henderson to shut up the ‘Henderson only passes sideways’ brigade, and a Firmino finish we’ve all dreamed about at least once since Saturday. He got his nipples out in celebration too.
Ste – Sadio Mane v West Brom
It was such a well worked goal. Coutinho’s dummy was fantastic, Firmino’s ball was inch-perfect and Mane made his finish look so simple. It was a great display of how devastating Liverpool can be in attack.
WINNER: Roberto Firmino v Crystal Palace
Firmino’s chip against Palace narrowly edges out Mane’s goal v West Brom.
