Liverpool set to record best-ever net profit
Liverpool will become the first club in history to record an annual net profit of over €100million, according to Inside World Football.
That’s due mainly to reaching last season’s Champions League final – a lucrative achievement that earned the Reds €81.3million – and selling Philippe Coutinho for around €130million.
The current record net profit of €98million was set by Leicester City in 2017, a year after their shock Premier League title win.
While some may look at the huge amounts Liverpool have spent on Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho in the last 12 months, their fees will be paid over the course of their contracts.
That means it doesn’t impact too heavily on Liverpool’s 2018 financial records.
The likes of commercial income, matchday revenue and media payments have also played their part.
It is a remarkable feat – one that further goes to show how smoothly the club is being run both on and off the pitch.
