Souness hails ‘pragmatic’ Liverpool
Graeme Souness has lavished praise on Liverpool following their excellent season so far.
The former Reds star spoke to the club’s official website and discussed the team’s pursuit of Premier League glory as they lead the way at the very top of the table.
Liverpool are currently four points clear of Manchester City, who sit in second place, and will be determined to triumph in the English top-flight for the first time in 29 years.
Souness hailed Jurgen Klopp’s side as “pragmatic” but was quick to point out that the Reds remain an attractive team to watch. He said:
We’re in a great position. It’s not theirs to lose, there’s a long way to go and City are a really good team. Just keep your nerve and treat each game as the next one is the most important one, don’t look too far ahead.
If you can, keep that four-point advantage and it’s first to blink really, in the long term.
As well as being a great watch, Liverpool are a pretty pragmatic team as well; they are a pretty strong outfit when they’re not dominant, they’re still capable of winning games. That makes them a dangerous team. It makes you league champions when you can win games without being at your best.
Liverpool took another step towards Premier League success on Saturday afternoon when they came from behind to defeat Crystal Palace 4-3 at Anfield.
Next up for the Reds is a testing home match against Leicester City, with the Merseyside outfit looking to take advantage of Claude Puel’s recent struggles with the Foxes.
