Sadio Mane is confident about Liverpool’s title chances, but has stressed the importance of not getting carried away.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with 15 games remaining.
It is the strongest position the Reds have found themselves in since they last won a league crown in 1990, with supporters growing increasingly confident.
The pain of not getting over the finishing line five years ago still remains, however, so there is also a certain amount of trepidation from some fans.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Mane says he has belief in his team getting the job done, but also stressed the importance of not being too confident:
We have experience now.
Of course we are confident if we’re winning – but not too much, we know what can happen.
We are still professional footballers and we’re still going to try to take it game by game.
The season is long and we have many games. Making pressure for ourselves doesn’t help. Why not just try to win games until the end of the season?
Liverpool have returned from a training camp in Dubai, having been afforded an 11-day break between the 4-3 win over Crystal Palace and next Wednesday’s visit of Leicester City.
They are primed to keep up their scintillating form, although City will not be going away any time soon.
