Pearce confirms Liverpool’s interest in Timo Werner
The ever-reliable James Pearce has confirmed Liverpool’s interest in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
The German striker has been linked with a move to Anfield on numerous occasions in the past and talk of a move to Liverpool was ramped up this week when Naby Keita and Sadio Mane discussed the possibility of trying to lure him to England.
In a Q&A on the Liverpool Echo, Pearce was quizzed on the Reds’ reported interest in Werner and this is what he had to say:
He’s certainly on his radar but whether that leads to anything it’s too early to say. Liverpool will certainly have to bolster their attacking options in the summer.
It has been widely reported that Klopp is a huge admirer of the player and given his extensive knowledge of the Bundesliga, he will no doubt be aware of his situation.
Mohamed Salah has been used as a central striker this season and a natural number nine is something the club have lacked recently with Roberto Firmino not what you would describe as an ‘out-and-out striker’.
