Liverpool youngsters can become key men, claims Pearce

A number of Liverpool’s current youngsters stand a good chance of having bright futures at Anfield, according to the Liverpool Echo‘s James Pearce.

Jurgen Klopp is famed for being an advocate of youth, but he also won’t simply keep young players for the sake of it.

This summer is set to be another busy one on Merseyside, with a host of senior players expected to leave, including Simon Mignolet, Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge.

It could pave the way for some of the Reds’ emerging talent to be given more of an opportunity, with the likes of Adam Lewis, Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster all highly-rated individuals, among others.

Speaking during an Echo Q&A, Pearce gave his thoughts on what the future holds for Liverpool’s youngsters, saying several can potentially play prominent roles moving forward:

Liverpool have big hopes for Lewis and if he steps up and delivers between now and August he could establish himself as Robertson’s deputy with Moreno leaving this summer.

It will be interesting to see what Klopp does in terms of back-up for Alisson as I’d expect Mignolet to move on.

If he doesn’t think Kelleher or Grabara are ready to be the No 2 then he will need to sign a more experienced keeper.

I’d certainly expect Hoever, Jones and Camacho to stick around as squad players.

For the others, it depends to a large degree how they get on in pre-season. I really hope Wilson gets a chance to shine as I’ve been so impressed by him at Derby this season.

It is an exciting time to be a Liverpool supporter, both on and off the pitch, and the quality of their young players suggests the future is going to be bright, too.
