Paul Glatzel set to sign first professional deal
Liverpool are planning to hand a new contract to academy star Paul Glatzel next week.
According to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, Glatzel is set to put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club this month.
Glatzel is the captain of Liverpool’s under-18 side and has been impressing the Liverpool hierarchy with his performances this season.
The teenager already has 22 goals for the season and is set to sign the deal on his 18th birthday, which is next Wednesday.
The report claims that he has built up a good partnership with Bobby Duncan, who signed from Manchester City, and the pair have managed to hit 43 goals between them so far this season.
Glatzel was born in Liverpool to German parents, meaning that he would be eligible to play for either England or Germany if he ever reached the elite level of professional football.
