Alisson believes Liverpool will cope without Virgil van Dijk when Liverpool face Bayern Munich.

The sides sides meet in a mouthwatering Champions League clash on Tuesday night, in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Van Dijk is unavailable, however, after a yellow card against Napoli in the group stages saw him suspended for the visit of Bayern.

It is an undoubted blow for the Reds, with the centre-back arguably their most influential player and the current favourite for the PFA Player of the Year award.

With Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren also out, Jurgen Klopp look set to start Fabinho in defence alongside Joel Matip.

Although Van Dijk’s absence is a worry, especially with Robert Lewandowski leading the line for Bayern, Alisson told Premier League Productions that he has faith in his teammates getting the job done without him:

All the defenders have played so when one comes in and one leaves, we don’t feel that loss because we’re all used to each other.

That the backline are all able to communicate with each other, and know each other really well, is vital for any team.

Once you’ve cracked it, you’ve got it – and we seem confident.

It promises to be another spectacular European night at Anfield, as Liverpool aim to go one better in the Champions League than last season.
