Liverpool are one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing Blackburn Rovers youngster John Buckley, according to TEAMtalk.
The Championship side are believed to have opened talks with the 19-year-old midfielder about a new deal, in an attempt to ward off interest.
Buckley has been at Blackburn since the age of just six and is regarded highly at the club, getting close to becoming a fixture in the first team.
Despite the fact Buckley only signed a new contract in January 2018 – his first professional deal – his boyhood team want to “reward his progress”.
Jurgen Klopp is a keen advocate of signing young British talent, so it is no surprise to see Liverpool looking at Buckley.
The Reds’ Academy is one of the best in the country, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harry Wilson coming through it in recent times.
Liverpool aren’t the only Premier League club keeping an eye on Buckley, however, with Everton and Manchester United also monitoring the situation.
