Liverpool are in the hunt to sign Khephren Thuram – son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram.
That’s according to The Mail, who claim the Reds and Chelsea are fighting for his signature.
The 17-year-old Monaco star is highly-rated, featuring for the senior side this season.
A defensive midfielder, unlike his World Cup-winning father, Thuram could be set for a summer exit if the right bid comes along.
Liverpool and Chelsea are both looking to swoop in before he signs his first professional contract at the age of 18 – a birthday he celebrates in March.
They would have to pay a small compensation fee if a deal came to fruition, but it is unlikely to put them off.
Monaco will be desperate to secure a long-term deal for Thuram, even if they are resigned to losing him.
Allowing him to leave on the cheap would be a major blow, with his potential clearly huge.
More is likely to become clearer in the summer, but Thuram is certainly one to watch.
