Mane delighted with back-heel after thriving in central role

Sadio Mane admits his outrageous goal against Watford was one of the most unique he has scored, also thriving in a central role.

The 26-year-old was one of Liverpool’s star players as they thumped the Hornets 5-0 at Anfield.

Mane’s brace got the ball rolling on an emphatic night, as the Reds stayed one point clear of Manchester City.

The Senegalese was used centrally in the absence of Roberto Firmino and he shone throughout.

His incredible back-heeled effort was the standout moment of the match, summing up Mane’s brilliance as a footballer.

Liverpool’s No.10 admits it is one of his more memorable goals, also telling Liverpoolfc.com he is happy to play anywhere to benefit the team:

Trent made a very good cross and I was in the box, I was a lucky boy and I scored. It’s one of [the most adventurous goals I’ve scored], yes!

But the most important thing is the three points and we got it, so I’m happy.

It was my first time since I came to Liverpool I played centrally. I always said I’m here for the team, so I try to play any position the coach asks me to play to help the team.

We started fast in the game, we moved quickly with and without the ball and created many chances. We scored five goals and we deserved the win.

The team was fantastic, everybody played well. It was the key.

Mane doesn’t always get the same level of credit as Mohamed Salah and Firmino, but he remains one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp’s team-sheet.

He comes up with big goals and his pace and movement will always wreak havoc.
