Luis Suarez opened the scoring, before Lionel Messi’s double secured victory for the Liga champions.
It was a bleak evening for Jurgen Klopp and his players, with poor finishing their biggest issue, rather than the all-round performance.
Although the odds are now stacked against Liverpool getting through after next Tuesday’s second leg at Anfield, Van Dijk is remaining positive.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, the Dutchman says a remarkable comeback is possible, also bemoaning what was an unlucky result:

They still have that extra quality but we will try to do everything possible to go through.
I am disappointed but the result on the scoresheet does not really reflect how well we played and what the game was like. We had some big chances, should have scored one and they could have scored a fourth.
But it is 3-0 and we have a big job to do at Anfield but we have shown throughout the season that we never give up. We need everyone to be together and let’s see how it goes.
