Liverpool are edging closer to completing a deal for Sporting Lisbon teenager Andre Cardoso.
According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal Madeira, relayed in an article by Sport Witness, the Reds have made contact with Cardoso and a deal looks ‘almost certain’ to go through.
The report goes on to add that the next 48 hours are crucial in regards to Liverpool securing a deal for the player, who is regarded as a future star.
The 18-year-old will leave Sporting Lisbon at the end of his contract this summer and is being monitored by numerous other Champions league sides.
Cardoso is yet to make his first-team debut, so the teenager will more than likely head straight into the Kirkby academy where he could progress into the first-team over the coming years.
Liverpool have had great success in developing young players in the academy, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Raheem Sterling both progressing through the system in recent years.
