Liverpool’s interest in Maxi Gomez has “cooled”, according to the Daily Mail.

The Celta Vigo striker has been linked with the Reds in the past, as Jurgen Klopp looks to add depth to his attack this summer.

While Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all world class players, Liverpool don’t currently have enough quality in reserve.

Gomez had reportedly been eyed up as a potential target, having scored 13 goals in 34 appearances this season.

That move appears to be increasingly off the cards, however, with Liverpool looking at different options.

The report also states that the Reds will be looking at signing players in their early 20s, “with a work ethic to suit Jurgen Klopp’s philosophy and a sensible price tag.”

Villarreal wide man Samuel Chukwueze, Ajax star David Neres and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Brandt are all mooted as genuine targets.

It is not expected to be a busy summer at Anfield, due to Klopp being happy with the majority of his squad.
