Cornet flattered by Liverpool speculation
Lyon star Maxwel Cornet has stated that speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool is ‘flattering’.
Speaking to beIN Sports France, the winger of the Ligue 1 club discussed whether or not his future would lie at the Groupama Stadium, and alluded to the possibility of arriving at Anfield this summer.

Lyon face a transitional period ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. Sylvinho has replaced Bruno Genesio as the club’s first-team manager, and key players have been heavily linked with departures.
In fact, earlier in May, Liverpool were reported to have been keeping tabs on three of their vital starting players: Memphis Depay, Tanguy Ndombele and Houssem Aouar.
However, Cornet appears to have been informed that the Reds are chasing his signature this summer, and he was coy when speaking about the chances of a move. He said:
I did not say I wanted to leave. We met the president [Jean-Michel Aulas] in January, and I said I wanted to extend [my contract], but talks were not successful.
Liverpool are a big club, any links are flattering. I’m under contract until 2021, but you never know in football so we’ll see.
The 22-year-old winger scored seven times for Lyon in Ligue 1 this season, chipping in with five assists, too.
