Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has threatened to quit the club if star defender Kaldou Koulibaly is sold this summer.

The powerful defender is a man in demand this summer, with Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain all keen on the 27-year-old.

Liverpool reportedly held talks with Koulibaly’s agent last week, while Manchester City launched a world-record £85m bid for the defender.

The Senegal international has plied his trade with Napoli since 2014 and has made over 150 appearances for the Serie A side.

With numerous European giants circling around the highly-rated international, Koulibaly could well leave for Italy in a world-record deal for a defender.

However, talking to the media, reported by Calciomercato, cited by the Daily Express, Ancelotti threatened to leave the side if his star man was sold ahead of the new campaign.

If there is no Kalidou, I will not even come back from Canada.

A move to Anfield for Koulibaly appears to be unlikely, however, with another centre-back possibly on Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist, a potential deal could well be one to keep an eye on over the coming months
