Liverpool are well-placed to complete the signing of promising French winger Bilel Hassaini, who has been eyed by Arsenal in recent times.
According to claims from Foot Mercato, the Reds have moved to the front of the queue in the race to sign the 18-year-old on a free transfer this summer following his departure from Nancy.
Hassaini had been targeted by Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, as per the report, but Thomas Tuchel’s side’s pursuit of the player has ‘fallen into the water’.
However, other established European clubs are evidently in the hunt to add him to their youth squads ahead of next season, with Premier League pair Liverpool and Arsenal both keen.
Hassaini is, according to Foot Mercato, awaiting a concrete offer from the Gunners, but with the North London club taking their time, the Reds appear to be pushing for a deal.
Competition from France is still said to be prominent, though, with Saint-Etienne listed as potential suitors.
